Schooool

So school is now in full bloom...

Exciting isn't it? You decide if that's sarcasm or not.

I think that my new teachers are very friendly in general... I can give you a beginning-of-the-year review of them.  Ha ha...I should also rate them!

Math teacher:
I like this teacher a lot.  The first week of school she already knew all of our names.  My parents suspected that the teacher had pre-memorized our names but when I asked her, she said that she had not.  I have never met a teacher who could memorize names so quickly.  Also she has an extremely interesting background in not only teaching.  She is very understanding and trusts you as we trust her back.  She can contain the class very well.

History Teacher:
He seems to be very nice and likes to go with the flow.  I like how he wears bow tie instead of a normal tie.  He can be a little confusing in his instruction and is the kind of teacher who doesn't show many of his emotions or interests and answers questions very plainly...not being mean or having mercy.  Although I have realized that sometimes he himself is humored by the class clowns.

ELA Teacher:
I will use her favorite word to describe her: annoying.  But I do respect her, especially how she is different.  She often talks about how busy she is and how she won't except anything that does not follow anything she says.  So I have learned - if she says it, she means it.  This is what I kind of like about her attitude...especially how she scolds kids in the hallway, pretending to be a mean teacher when she really isn't.  What I don't like about her is that she doesn't seem to care about us.  That's fine, I suppose, she can't be forced to like us.  What I don't like about her class is that nothing sticks to me.  Anything she says seems to go out through my other ear.

Science teacher:
This teacher's teaching method is much to my favor.  I think that her method of teaching is excellent! In class we never use loose-leaf paper.  Only a composition notebook.  At first I thought it would be troublesome using a composition notebook because you not clip it into the rings of your binder for convenience (yes it HAD to be a composition notebook).  But it was actually extremely convenient.  The only time we had to have our binders out was at the beginning of class when we wrote down our homework and took out our notebooks, and at the end of class, when we needed to put them away.  The rest of class we only had to have our notebooks out.  The sheets, notes, and study guides she handed out were only on half sheets of paper and could easily be taped into our notebooks.  The tape wasn't as bad as you would expect.  It was very neat actually.  Materials were also convenient.  They would be at the side of each row...you didn't even have to get up to access them!  All homework is done in our notebooks.  As a teacher she is fine but her teaching style is very good.  My friend told me that she didn't like Science class but she had gotten a good midterm grade on it.  I strongly believe that this is because of the teaching style.

Wowzies! I'm Back From China

So, after a three week journey in China, I'm back!  Unfortunately the Chinese government blocks blogger because they are afraid that there might be outside opinions against them.  I know that there are other websites they block such as YouTube, Facebook, and Twitter.  They also black out anything that they find offensive or threatening on the internet.  So I couldn't post anything on the way.  Also, I went to many remote places with no internet...

Well yeah, that comic isn't completely accurate though because I don't play games on the internet that much anymore like I used to... I loved Poptropica and I used to play whenever I had free time. As the months went by I realized that I was playing it less and less and I started noticing the faults in the online game and found myself disliking it more and more.  Within a year I had completely lost interest in it.    There are better things for me to do now than play on Poptropica.

Anyways, back to China, I bought some interesting clothes back from my mother's hometown.  I bought them on a street called, "wu ma jie" which translates into, "Street of Five Horses".    The street consisted of a lot shops and stores.  I think that the clothes there are very influenced by Korean fashion, as many fashion related things in China are.

I went to many border countries along the Russian border... I might be writing some posts about that.  A bought a lot of souvenirs and little things along the way...

I have a lot of story and comic ideas from this trip!  I keep you posted!

My Turtle 2012

Its been a year since I got my turtle, Tito~lay!!! see: A short about Tito

He's grown a lot! (gender unknown) more than I have!
(If you think turtles are ugly and scary please do not continue reading!)

Here's a picture of him from last year:

He looks so small and cute! Note how small his head is compared to the following photos!

Present day photos:

He has a habit of swimming towards you when he sees you... it's because he thinks that you are going to feed him...

Random Haiku:

 Turtle named Tito,
He loves to sleep, loves to eat,
Don't all pets do that?

Simply Tito-lay:
I liked this picture the most

SO...Next year I'll write another post about Mr.Turtle for you!

Points, Meanings

What is the point?
Well the guilty part,
The moral part
is the point

What is the meaning?
The truthful part,
The humble part,
Is the meaning.

So...what I am trying to say here is that points are facts and meanings are true truths, what really can be found behind something, like a terrible or wonderful truth.

The point is what you see on the outside and the meaning is what it symbolizes.

 Let's look at some examples:

A bus driver stops the bus so that some younger kids and others can cross the street

The point is that the bus driver is an extremely sweet person for stopping
The meaning is that a highly civil society should good care of the members of its community who truly need help.

You spot a girl that you assume fell off from her bike with a cut on her leg... you give her a few bandages

The point is that you were being caring for doing a random act of kindness
The meaning is that people who do good deeds are highly valued in a highly civil society

A girl is hit by a car and nobody stops to help, not the driver that hit her, pedestrians, or her parents

The point is that this situation is really heartbreaking
The meaning is that this society is very selfish and scared

Did you notice Anything?

I think that the point and meaning have are actually pretty much the same thing...

You could substitute them for each other:

 What is the meaning?
Well the guilty part,
The moral part,
 Is the meaning.

What is the point?
The truthful part,
The humble part,
Is the point.

And then,  If you look at it that way... every thing related with points and meanings are the same thing...

Points, meanings, explanations, understandings, theories (maybe going a little to far), etc.

But then again, they must be different otherwise they would have created two separate words!

So I come to the conclusion that points and meanings can be substituted for each other but they cannot mean both definitions.

Problem solved!

Wait...what was the problem?

Clumpy Jo

So I'm attending this camp at Belmont Hill School.  I earned the nickname Clumpy and my friend got nicknamed Jo.  The teacher there is the kind of person who gives nicknames to everybody.  Anyways,  We were sitting together and he started calling us Clumpy Jo.

One Tree, Two Moons

When you see my drawing, the first thing you notice is that there are two girls.  People ask me, "Which one are you?"  I can't really answer that question.  I drew this tree keeping in mind that the girl on the left represent me, but I wouldn't say that she is I.  She represents a lot of others as well, as does the girl on the right.  It just happens that her story fits mine.  It might fit yours as well.  Who knows.

Last year, a very good friend of mine that I had just known for the school year moved to Florida.   She wasn't too happy about it.  But this reminded me of another friend.  I had a good friend back in my first grade.  Her name was Sasha.  At the playground in my old school, there was a very large tree - or it just seemed big to us at the time, and we would always play near it.  Sasha was the one who got me into nature.  We would always be near the tree at recess time, talking about eating leaves, climbing trees, "making" bird nests with twigs.  I think that she was the one who really gave me creativity.  It sounds funny, but we would always try to control the wind with our hands.  I liked her very much as a friend and probably more than she liked me.   But at the end of the year, she proudly declared that she was going to move.  The whole class made her goodbye cards.  She kept talking about how excited she was to move and how she couldn't wait any longer.  I tried to be happy for her too, but honestly, I was sad.  I hope that she has found another tree where she is living now and that she will learn from it as I learned from the tree in that playground.

This tree represents my relationship with my friend in first grade, the one I has last year, and all my other friends that have been washed away in my life.  I hope that no matter how faded they become, they will always have a place in my heart, and that this tree will always remind me of their kindness and generosity.

The Comic Characters

She's the main character of the comic.   A spunky girl, always on top of things, never afraid.  She's watching you!

Emily and Heike's friend.  He's a boy...not a girl.  He has a really high self esteem and is always dorky and happy.  It's hard to believe that he once was depressed.

The Turtle Part 3

Barney put the jeweled turtle down and rushed out the door.  After second thought he rushed back in and slipped it into his coat pocket.  A pair of eyes watched him from the closet.

Barney rushed up to the street vender and the old lady inquired, "Oh, hello Barney?  How do you do to-"

Barney curtly interrupted her, "Have you seen a suspicious man?"

"Sus-picious?" She asked quite slowly, thinking over it, like a cow chewing on grass.

   A few long seconds past.

    "So!?"

"Ehhh...?" She looked up at him, "What is wrong?"

"Well, have you seen a suspicious man!"

"Why yes, of course!" She exclaimed and smiled, "He was past my right across that street, holding a turtle with water on his cloak from a turtle tank..." She giggled.

Barney took off down the street, took a corner and squeezed into a narrow alleyway, a nice hideaway for gangsters.  He felt around a bit, (It was a bit dark...) and found the rusty ladder that he had been searching for.  He climbed up to the roof and looked down.  Nobody was in the street...the vender had also left.

A gust of wind blew from behind and he turned around.  The old lady was behind him, smiling crookedly.

"When it comes to life," She said, "Be happy with what you have..."

She put Tito onto the ground, and said, "Two turtles would only lead you into trouble, pick the one you favor!"  And with that she disappeared.

    Barney blinked and took Tito.

    Only one?

Fine, he thought and put the jeweled turtle onto the ground.  Suddenly he exploded into dust...

Barney opened his eyes and heard the chirping of his alarm clock.   He walked over to the turtle tank.  Both turtles were there.

And he knew that he was going to return the jeweled turtle first thing today.

The turtle part 2/3

When Barney woke, it was morning.  He grumbled and walked into the kitchen, past the turtle tank, and open the door tho retrieve the mail.  He stopped short, turned back around and looked back at the turtle tank.  It ransacked mess.  The Glass was smashed up and pieces were scattered everywhere.  The water was all over the ground, still dripping from the counter top.  He flicked the turtle light on.

    There was only one turtle.

    The jewel was there.

    His pet was gone.

What was going on?  If it was the jewel that had gotten stolen, it would have made sense, but why was his turtle stolen?  Wait a minute - is that animal in the tank the real turtle?  He peered at it closer but still couldn't tell.  So he picked it up in his hand.  It was the stone turtle.

But if the turtles are so similar, could it be possible that the thief thought that Tito was the jewel?

The Turtle part 1/3

Barney Humpback was surely a fine gentleman.  He kept his shoes untied at all times, never bothered to shower - why would it be sensible to cleanse if you would only get dirty again? - and cared for nothing at all.  Except for money, of course.

Today Humpback was sitting at the table, reading the newspaper.  "It appears that there has been a robber lurking around recently", he said to his pet water turtle.   The turtle poked its head out of the water and blinked twice.

"Hmph", He continued, "No intelligent man would rob to make a living, that's just depending on others!"  He looked over his newspaper to the turtle tank, "Ain't that right Tito (His turtle)?"

The turtle opened its mouth and snapped it shut, arrogantly, as if to say, "Except for you of course."

The man returned to his newspaper and said, "Except for me of course, I'm the best robber around."

The turtle looked annoyed and emerged itself back into the water.

"Don't be like that, foolish creature," Humpback sang squeamishly to the turtle, "I have a present for you!"

Barney took out a container from his knapsack, a very beautiful one, much like a ring box; covered in royal blue velvet and a comforting size that will snuggle into your palm.  He opened it in a curt manner and withdrew the treasure.  It was a beautiful turtle, made out of polished stone, mother of pearl lined the eyes and the carvings were so exquisite that the it looked real.  It was the size of Tito, a baby turtle, perhaps only three inches long.  Humpback noticed that his oily fingers had smudged the figure, so he pulled up his sweater and managed to wipe the lifelike  gem.  Then he placed it into the tank, and it hit the gravel quick and hard.

The turtle immediately swam over to inspect the obstruction and seemed a bit timid.  Barney flicked of the light on his turtle tank and tucked himself to bed.  The night was deadly dark.
